Main Body :- Organise the sections in a logical sequence. Use short
informative headings and subheadings. Include your consultation model in diagrammatic form in this section.
Conclusion :- Provide a summary of your findings? What are the implications for practice?
Recommendations :- Provide a recommend course of action. Include any limitations of your investigation.
References :- Provide a list of all the sources you used. Use APA style.
Appendices :- Include any information (graphs, charts, tables or other data) you used in your report but did not include in the body.

Assessment task
Review the literature on the theoretical approaches to clinical consultation. Write a
report of 2500 words outlining the model/s that best align with nursing practice.

Task interpretation
The assessment task is to look at consultation theory (medical and allied health) and
apply it to nursing practice. There is no a righta or a wronga approach to addressing the assessment task. You can choose one model, or you can a cherry
picka what you think is appropriate from several different models. Have a look at the
article by Pawlikowska et al. (2007) for a more comprehensive overview of consultation models (see reference below).
Consultation (interviewing including history-taking and physical examination) is
dependent on the communication skills of the clinician so these should be addressed in your report as appropriate. The article by Cox and Li (2020) provides some insights into the importance of language and communication in the consultation process (see reference below).
Please review the rubric before you commence work on this assessment. You are
required to provide more than just a descriptive account. Your writing should
demonstrate your knowledge, critical thinking, analysis, and ability to provide
argument for your statements related to your âmodelâ. Your reasoning and
argument should be supported by references to the literature as appropriate.
Additionally you are to communicate in a professional way with correct use of
language and avoid jargon in the text.

Age of references
Most of the consultation models are now dated. Generally, citing dated seminal texts such as theories and models is not an issue. You may find that most of the associated literature is also dated. While it is preferable to cite the most recent literature, you will not be penalised for citing older sources.
Some of the primary sources may not be available (because of their age). You may
need to support your writing with secondary sources (what other authors have said
about the topic).
